First Aid + CPR

Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR training is basic knowledge delivered in easy-to-follow steps. Our courses teach simple routines that can apply to a variety of situations, from minor injuries to more severe injuries and conditions.  This knowledge can turn participants from a bystander into someone who has the knowledge and skills to help: someone who can save a life!

All courses include First Aid & CPR Guidelines 2005. Programs meet both federal and provincial/territorial Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.

Standard First Aid & CPR-C or CPR-HCP Course: Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for those who need training for work requirements, or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace or home. The course covers a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR Level C, AED, prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth topics, such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine.

  • Preparing to Respond
  • The EMS System Check, Call, Care
  • Airway Emergencies (Choking)
  • Breathing & Circulation Emergencies (Hyperventilation, Asthma, Severe Allergic Reaction, Heart Attack, Stroke, Deadly Bleeding)
  • First Aid for Respiratory & Cardiac Arrest (CPR and Defibrillation)
  • Head & Spine Injuries
  • Bone, Muscle & Joint Injuries (Splinting)
  • Wound Care (Bandaging, knocked-out tooth, Amputation, Penetrating Chest Injuries)
  • Sudden Medical Emergencies (Fainting, Diabetes, Seizures, Emergency Childbirth)
  • Environmental Emergencies (Hypothermia, Frostbite, Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke, Poisoning, Alcohol Poisoning)

Emergency First Aid & CPR-A Course: Simple First Aid & CPR techniques taught in an interactive environment, for individuals who want an overview of First Aid & CPR for the workplace or home. The course covers skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, CPR Level A, AED, and other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission.
